Program Connects Deployed Soldiers with the American People
Soldiers serving in Iraq now have an additional opportunity to share
their experiences with the American people through a new public
outreach initiative called "Share the Story." The Multinational
Force Iraq website http://www.mnf-iraq.com/ provides a "Share the
Story" link where Iraq-deployed Soldiers register to participate in
the program. Soldiers can choose to discuss their Iraq experiences
with interested groups while on leave in their hometowns or with
organizations situated near upcoming stateside assignments. For more
information, visit the Share the Story webpage at:
http://www.mnf-iraq.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=10969&Itemid=146
then click on "From the troops" and then on "Share your story." |

Commanders Desk: Come the end of June I will have one full year
under my belt and as you have probably already read I’m taking on a
second year. My first year has been quite the learning experience,
and I will like to thank everyone you gave guidance.
There is still lots of work to be completed at our Post. A lot of
the membership has stated that the second floor Canteen is an issue
and would like to see something on the ground floor. Selling a
building that has been established by past veterans is emotional
strenuous but one that is an necessity. A buyer has come forth and
we might be able to sell our building and hopefully move into
another one at a different location.
We need to get more members to meetings and involvement in Post
activities. With more members involved more ideas can be generated.
The community and the Post will benefit greatly from your
involvement. Attend a meeting or event I promise you won’t be
disappointed.
One of my personal objectives for the Post during my first year was
to get the VFW name out there in the public. I fell we have
accomplished this, there hasn’t been a week an activity from your
Post wasn’t mentioned in the newspaper. Our name isn’t enough the
public needs to recognize us as members, that means we are going to
kick it up a notch. I ask each member to help me make our Post a
figure in the publics eye, together lets make it happen.
Proud to serve you,
Commander Michael J. O’Hara
